What About The "Ifs"

Salutations once again friends! Today I wanted to share and hope to engage someone in a conversation about life's "what ifs". I'm not only talking about things that you wish were different or thing that you may regret have happened. I'm asking you to think about all that your world was, is and could be if some of the major factors and joys in your life were no more; love, sunshine, hugs, smiles. Whatever it may be that is dearest to you. I found a piece by paul laurence dunbar that poses that very same question. I thought about the things that I appreciate most in my world; family friends, my spirit. And then there are the things that I do and enjoy that fuel my spirit; reading, writing, smiling etc. All of these things make up my world and all of these things I dread I never have to know a day without them. So I ask you to read "IF" by Paul Laurence Dunbar and think about all of your ifs".

IF- Paul Laurence Dunbar

If life were but a dream, my Love,
And death the waking time;
If day had not a beam, my Love,
And night had not a rhyme,-
A barren , barren world were this
Without one daving gleam;
I'd only ask that with a kiss
You'd wake me from the dream.

If dreaming were the sum of days,
And loving were the bane;
If battling for a wreath fo bays
Could soothe a heart in pain,-
I'd scorn the meed of battle's might,
All other aims above
I'd choose the human's higher right,
To suffer and to love!
